Have you ever heard or seen something emerge just inside the peripheral of your senses that for some reason takes you out of character and sparks your curiosity? You can’t explain why, but for some definitive reason you decide to investigate it. Out of the thousands of distractions in your world trying to steal your attention, you hear one thing that speaks to you! This is the goal of every musician out there, and for an ever-growing audience this is the music of Maticulous.
Hailing from the beautiful Okanagan Valley, Mat Keller and Matt Wagner are a rare breed of natural musicians. Skilled in playing any and all instruments that they can get their hands on, this duo provides a soundscape of music from around the Globe. Although the average listener might classify Maticulous as hip-hop, the undeniable influences of Rock, R&B, Country and Latin constitute World Music. Maticulous’ universal appeal can be attributed to Mat and Matt’s high energy performances and catchy harmonies. Tight rhymes and good vibes penetrate each and everybody leaving the soul satisfied and craving more.
In 2005 Maticulous released, Life in a Flask, a fourteen song set that dodged popular gangster vibes and diversified hip-hop as a genre. Maticulous released the record online from their website, showcasing their talents not only as phenomenal live performers but as business savvy intellectuals. After receiving airplay from commercial, college and internet radio stations, Maticulous began to creep into public ears. After opening for popular Artists like K-OS, Moka Only, Sweatshop Union and Classified, Maticulous amazed audiences and gained a considerable fan following. Songs like “Big City, Small World” (Their best iTunes seller to date) and “Australian Vacation” exemplify intelligent and relevant rhymes, illustrating the good times and journies they created while travelling abroad. The track “Swinger’s Club” is a playful big band bulldozer with uncanny harmonies and vocals rhythms. BC Music Magazine calls Life in a Flask, "lively ear candy with great variety”.
Since attending Canada’s prestigious Metalworks Institute of Sound and Music Production in 2007, the duo plans to release a new recording called M-Theory. The boys also started their own company, Maticulous Music Group Inc. which provides services like Music Publishing & Licensing, Recording & Production, Marketing and Artist Guidance. “We’ve been writing a lot, building our catalog in many different genres" says Keller. “We now have the knowledge and production skills to write and record some great songs and when the timing is right, we can’t wait to show the World” adds Wagner. Pure enthusiasm and passion are what drive these young entrepreneurs to succeed in the music industry.
